A V 8, AWD, manual luxury coupe. That color... that interior... 17 grand seems a small price to pay for a car that only costs 5-figures a year — every year — to keep on the road! ...

It is nice looking, but who wants to bet the owner is selling because he got stuck in a six inch snowdrift outside his driveway?

I want it.

I think the previous owner traded it in because it's an 11-year old Audi approaching 100k miles

My stock answer now:

Based on that wheel fitment I’d be afraid to touch it without a full PPI. Looks like a car that was bought for show and never was taken care of aside from visual mods.

That is gorgeous.

That’s a true beauty.

“dependable ”

that was somebody’s baby they had to give up - 99k miles... worked with a guy that had an A5 manual for a while.with the 2.0 motor - nice car but didn’t have that Audi v8 snarl.

You could get an A5 with the VR6 in 2008. That would probably be the one to get for what a touring car.

You can depend on spending thousands annually on maintenance/repairs?
![]() 02/26/2019 at 04:54 |

It’s very dependable when you replace every mechanical component once every 5 years.

Love the coupes. Such a good looking car. The v8 is the only issue here, they are notorious for carbon build up, but otherwise will run for many miles. At least it’s the manual trans, so much fun. I had a ‘12 S4 for a few years and loved every minute of it. The coupe is even prettier than the sedan. And the blower whine from the 3.0t engine was intoxicating. Although the 4.2 would be a better sound overall.

That is a gorgeous way to ruination.

It’s the kind of car you buy to drive for a few months then sell (hopefully) before anything breaks.

No, “DEPENDABLE”. You know it’s true when it’s ALL CAPS.

TBH that oppo one for sale is a better deal.

rebuilt or not, $ 11.5k and only 62k miles. The money you’re “ saving” could cover a lot of repairs.

It’ll definitely need a carbon cleaning but the V8s aren’t horribly unreliable. Some 08s and 09s had sticky clutches but other than that the V8 S5 is one of the more reliable recent German cars.

S5 with a stick and a V8 is the car that I’d ge t if I could have 3 cars and my wife didn’t care that all of them were stick and that I used all our parking spaces ( 996 cab, bmw 528i wagon, Audi s5) . And when my life fell to pieces, in part from German car ownership, I think it’d be the one I held onto the longest. They look good, sound good, right size.
